DECEMBER 2010
The first
seven cria, of the thirty five cria that we expect this season, are on the
ground. So far we have four female and three male cria. Five of them are
black and two are fawn. Some of these are absolutely top quality. Before
the end of this year there should be at least 14 cria on the ground. Most
of our thirty five cria will be black ones. They are out of our multi
award winning black stud males Ferragamo, Atonement, Tycoon and Balladin.
We hope to get at least one black one out of our dark fawn stud male
Julius. He brings extreme density and perfect bone structure to his cria.

NOVEMBER 2010
This years Waikato Show had record entries, almost 300
animals and was held over 2 days.
We took a team of 5 Black Alpacas and came home with 5 ribbons.

As you can understand, we are very happy with these results.
It also shows that we have a very solid base of Black Stud Males for our
breeding program. And, as you know, still another top Black Stud Male to
come from Australia in January.
We are very much looking forward to this season's cria.
Especially the first ones from, one of our top males, Canchones Atonement.
Atonement is jointly owned with Canchones Alpacas, Australia .

2010 NATIONAL ALPACA EXPO CHAMPION
BLACK HUACAYA
Yes, she did it!!!!!! Sunsetestate Shine, our 6 month old black
female, went all the way to become Champion Black Huacaya at the New
Zealand National Show. We are very pleased with the result. She has an
incredible dense fleece with good structure and lots of lustre.
Our young male, Sunsetestate Jaxxon was rewarded fifth in his
class. This really shows that we are on the right track with our breeding
program. Their sire is Blaka Galahad and her dam Canchones Urban Energy
and his dam Canchones Murmur ET.
We will have females sired by, and females pregnant to Blaka
Galahad available for sale.

SHOW RESULTS JUST KEEP COMING
This weekend, at the Australian National Show in Tamworth, our
two animals both pulled off first places. Our latest purchased stud male,
Canchones Bleecker Street, who is jointly owned with Canchones in
Australia, won, at almost 12 months of age, Junior Black
Male in a very large class. The female, Canchones Zeste ET, won her class,
Mature Black Female. This proves again that our selection of top quality
black alpacas is very sound. This will have a big impact on the quality of
the New Zealand Black Huacaya herd.
Sunset Alpaca Stud's latest purchase is a magnificent young
male called Canchones Bleecker Street.
Bleecker Street again is a full Peruvian male. His sire is Canchones
Provocateur and his dam Canchones Bustinza.
He has a well structured, very dense fleece with very good lustre and
unbelievable length.
Bleecker Street will arrive on our property in January 2011 and strengthen
our, already very impressive, line-up of Black Huacaya stud males.

Our new shed is nearing completion
This
shed will be totally dedicated to our alpacas. If necessary, we can have
all our alpacas inside. When completely finished there will be 5
mating/holding pens and a bigger spit-off area.
Through
the middle will be a weighing station for weighing the animals on a
regular basis. A huge area, 2 bays, are for animal shelter. The closed-in
bay will be for shearing and have a loft that holds our fleeces before
they go off to be processed. When the rain eventually stops, the race
around the shed will be constructed as well.

We still see too much white
As
you know, we are concentrating on breeding top quality black Huacaya
alpacas. But, as you can see, there are still too many non-blacks in our
paddocks. Lots of females and some white and brown potential stud males.
Also alpaca pets in all colours. Because of that, we offer these animals
for sale at extremely reasonable prices. The package prices are even more
mind blowing. All these animals have absolutely top genetics. Check them
out on the database under our herdcode: ECD. Then come and have a look at
the animals themselves. You are always welcome and....we make a nice cup
of coffee.

Here
are the two parents, Canchones Gendarme and Canchones Kenzoki, of our
latest purchase, the full Peruvian top female Canchones Zeste ET. They are
also the sire and dam of our full Peruvian stud male Chanchones Ferragamo
ET.
Zeste
ET and Ferragamo ET are actually full brother and sister out of the same
flush. These genetics are the absolute best for a black huacaya
breeder.

We
are very happy with the latest purchase of Canchones Zeste ET. Canchones
Zeste ET brings together some of the best black Peruvian genetics,
Canchones Gendarme and Canchones Kenzoki. In our already well established
quality herd of black huacayas, including many Peruvians, Zeste's genetics
will continue to advance our breeding program.
